STEM, biology major is guest speaker for Empower Hour

Invest in Me’s guest speaker for this month’s Empower Hour event was STEM and biology major Candy Jara.

Jara is the school programs coordinator with the Modesto Children’s Museum. The Invest in Me group met for the monthly event at the Patterson Library on Tuesday night.

“Candy emphasized that every day offers a valuable takeaway, even if it seems small and meaningless, these takeaways can lead to new beginnings. Candy shared about career paths, pointing out that they can be straightforward or filled with twists and turns. Ultimately, she encouraged us to focus on doing what we love, as that is what truly matters,” Invest in Me CEO Erica Ayala said.

Empower Hour is a program that aims to inspire and empower participants. Each month the program hosts a guest speaker who shares their professional expertise and journey. Participants have an opportunity to connect with the speakers, explore career choices and network with each other.

The next Empower Hour session is set for Jan. 14.
