JUNIOR ENGINEER
(Recommended for TK - Grade 2)
Cost: $225 / session

Design, build, test, and redesign! In this hands-on program, we’ll start by exploring the energy around us – at work whenever something lights up, makes noise, or moves – and see how it flows through circuits. Then, you’ll become an engineer yourself as you build sky-high standing towers, energize light bulbs, program real robots, and even design, build and test your own floating boats to see how much mass they can carry without sinking!

BODY BASICS
(Recommended for TK - Grade 2)
Cost: $225 / session

Become a member of the “care team” as MoChiMu transforms your classroom into a laboratory of the human body! First, we’ll explore organ systems, food groups, and the power of exercise! Then, you’ll become a physician yourself as you compare and contrast real X-rays, assemble well-balanced meals, measure your active heart rate, and put the tools of real medical professionals to the test!

COASTER CREATORS
(Recommended for Grades 2 - 6)
Cost: $225 / session

Hold on tight! This open inquiry, engineering design workshop is filled with ups and downs as you explore the engineering process, communication, and collaboration. After exploring the physics behind the thrills, we’ll turn your classroom into an engineering lab as you build your own marble roller coaster around chairs, through desks, and across chalkboards. With limitless flexible track, supports, and marbles, if you can dream it, you can design it, build it, test it, and redesign it until your coaster is ready to thrill.

BEGINNER ROBOTICS
(Recommended for Grades 1 - 4)
Cost: $225 / session

What is a robot? How does it work? MoChiMu’s Beginner Robotics is the way to find out! In this incredible introductory workshop, we’ll explore energy, circuitry, and the “language” robots speak: programming. Then, you’ll take control of your own hand-held Bee-Bot and test out MoChiMu’s customized, cross-curricular challenges: write a fairy tale and bring it to life through programming, pilot your Bee-Bot between flowers to pollinate them, practice your spelling words on the Alphabet Mat, and so much more!

THE BASICS

  • Outreach Workshops bring the hands-on, inquiry-based excitement of Modesto Children's Museum to your classroom!

These structured programs are educator-led, hands-on, and designed for "a classroom-sized audience in a classroom-sized space." They're perfect for schools, after school programs, Scout meetings, or family nights – anywhere where a group of about 30 participants meets.

  • Each hour-long session for no more than 32 students is $225. You can book multiple back-to-back sessions on the same day to serve multiple classrooms (See "My grade level has multiple classes" below!)

  • We offer multiple different programs to select from – each on a different topic, with different activities, and for a given recommended age level. However, every outreach workshop is a one hour experience designed for no more than 32 students – one class at a time.

All of our Workshops begin with an interactive introduction lead by a MoChiMu educator, with a bulk of the hour spent with students exploring hands-on, interactive, standards-based activities set up right in your classroom or program space.

  • Outreach Workshops bring MoChiMu to you! These programs are designed to be set up in a "classroom-sized space." Beyond that, each program has its own set-up, but we'll work with the tables, chairs, and carpet spaces you have to set up hands-on activity stations.

  • It's easy! When you call to book, we can reserve multiple back-to-back sessions (with a short reset time in between) so that each class can rotate into the space for an hour-long session. You'll just want to consider setting up in a shared space – like a library or an unused classroom – so classes can rotate into the program space rather than the program moving between classrooms.

  • Not much! Some of our programs require access to water, and they all benefit from one paraprofessional or one parent volunteer who can help staff a hands-on station – but beyond that, we'll bring everything we need!
